Our Curriculum

At Somers Park Primary School, we provide an enrichment curriculum which offers children many opportunities to reach their full potential through an extensive range of activities. These may be based on learning within the classroom, the outdoor environment, learning within our local community and we really value the learning experiences children can gain from external visits and visitors. We offer a curriculum which understands that all areas of learning are interconnected and that alongside children developing essential English, Maths, computing and scientific skills, they also have opportunities to express themselves through play, talk, song, drama, dance, art, design and crafts. We also ensure and value the importance of creating opportunities for children to develop physically, spiritually and morally.

In our Early Years classes, we follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years (DFE) and use the supporting materials from Development Matters in the EYFS (Early Education).

In Key Stage 1 and 2, we use the National Curriculum to support our planning.  For a more detailed breakdown of our coverage across the school, our curriculum summary documents for each year group are available as attachments to this page.

For parent information about the learning that is going on across the school this term, please see the termly newsletter letters on the relevant class pages or download the curriculum summaries from the Curriculum Summary section.

If you require more information about the curriculum please contact your child's class teacher, or for general enquiries about our curriculum arrange an appointment with our Assistant Head, Mrs M. Everett, through the school office.
